Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Family reunions can be fun and wondrous or they can be akward and boring; which would you rather? I know that when I’ve gone to family reunions I’ve had an amazing time catching up with people I haven’t seen for years. Here are some family reunion ideas that all ages can enjoy.

The reunions that might be considered boring are those where nothing is really organized. There needs to be things to do and activities planned if everyone is going to have fun. Having some sort of family reunion activities in mind can really brighten up the occasion for all in attendance.

One of the best activities I’ve come across to being people together at a family reunions is that of a photo collage jigsaw puzzle. You can order these online just by sending in your best photos to the puzzle service. They will then design a unique photo puzzle layout for you. You can choose from various sizes and even include some text on the puzzles.

Charms for Bracelets: Symbols of The Zodiac Through Charms

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Knowing a bit about astrology and what most people know of as the symbols of the zodiac is a great way to start collecting charms. These stylized or very traditional types of charms are very important additions to any bracelet and are often seen as bringers of good luck to the person fortunate enough to be wearing the charms.

The circle of life is the actual interpretation of the meaning of the zodiac. Modern designations of the zodiac relate to specific dates on the calendar but the ancient astrologers were actually naming the twelve different sections of the sky that surround the earth. These signs, which are now seen on charms and other types of jewelry, are the physical representations of the space that the sun travels through each year. Since the sun’s travel is constant, it is now designated in both space and time.

The zodiac signs all form a path that is elliptical in shape. This path is then divided into twelve sections, which are depicted on charms, jewelry or other objects as specific symbols. The symbols that were chosen by the first ancient astronomers are the same symbols we use today. They are all living objects that are either seen as animal or parts of nature.

More Than Ordinary Jewelry – Charms and Charm Bracelets

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

Charm bracelets are more like a story of your life with each one of those charms representing some significant moment in your life. Though all those charms dangling from your charm bracelet look pretty no doubt but they are much more than just fancy trinkets. They are the milestones of your life.

There are many people who first get a charm bracelet at an important time in life or often these charm bracelets are given to them as gifts. The actual charm bracelet is known as a starter bracelet. Then, once a big even happens, you can add on a charm to the bracelet to help you remember that time. One example of using a charm bracelet is giving one to a mom, then she can add on charms at important moments in the life of her baby, using charms like teddy bears, booties, pacifiers, and more.

For hundreds of years charms and charm bracelets have been around and used on a regular basis. At one point in history they were thought to be special amulets, used to help get rid of evil eye and other forces of evil. They were worn as status symbols by pharaohs in Egypt as well. Then Queen Victoria made them popular in the 20th century and beyond, wearing charm bracelets with charms such as crests on them.
